Chad King Wilson Sr. is a 19-year veteran educator, coach, and educational activist with a background in Special Education, Social Studies, and Alternative Education programs. He is a native of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and began his academic career with Montgomery County Public Schools. He received his B.A . in History with a minor in Sociology from Saint Francis University and a M.Ed. in Special Education and Disability Studies from the University of Pittsburgh. He currently teaches Alternative Education and Social Studies at Watkins Mill High School where he is also the head football coach, assistant track coach, and sponsor of the Black Student Union.
The most important job that Mr. Wilson has however, is as a husband and father. Mr. Wilson and his wife, Louise Wilson, reside in Frederick, Maryland, with their two beautiful children, Chad King Wilson Jr., who is a student at Crestwood Middle School, and Cameron King Wilson, who is a student at Tuscarora Elementary School.
Mr. Wilson believes that every child should have access to an inclusive, diverse, world-class education that is, as Nelson Mandela stated, "the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world."
Mr. Wilson continues to advocate for students, educators, and communities by lobbying local, state, and national government and testifying on local, state, and national platforms. He elevates issues such as learning environments, special education services, the recruitment and retention of diverse educators, student rights and protections, and the professional treatment and compensation for educators. Mr. Wilson’s ability to communicate with various stakeholders has allowed him to be a fervent educational activist.
Mr. Wilson volunteers in the Frederick community as a youth coach and mentor. Working with students and providing athletic and academic guidance, he values the impact of positive mentorship on children.
Mr. Wilson has served on three impact negotiation teams focused on student and staff safety and protection of student and staff rights. Mr. Wilson has presented special education lessons and curriculum at Johns Hopkins University.
Mr. Wilson is running to ensure that every student is able to receive a world class education in a safe, inclusive, and well resourced school. To ensure that Special Education is fully funded and that every student is safe and secure in their classes. to ensure that all schools are staffed by educators who are treated as professionals, with respect and compensation, and are able to live in the communities they work in. Where all staff and professionals share in the autonomy and decision making to do their jobs. To ensure we invest in Community Schools with a focus on educating the whole child and the flexibility and resources to support the communities these schools are in. To make sure we have effective and respectful collaborative partnerships amongst all stakeholders with a focus on student success for everyone throughout the county. To ensure there is representation of all communities in Frederick County in the leadership of the fastest growing county in Maryland. Finally, Mr. Wilson is running to bring a strong voice for advocacy on the National, State, and Local level to ensure we receive more than adequate funding for capital improvements, programs, and access throughout the county.
